PRESS RELEASE
A tandem skydive by five lawyers from the family law practice group at Gerrards Cross legal firm B P Collins has raised more than £4,000 for the town’s Leonard Cheshire Disability Home.
The team finally took to the skies at Skydive Weston, near Bicester, on Saturday 1 November, after bad weather forced the cancellation of several previous attempts but, according to everyone who took part, it was well worth the wait.
Partner and practice group leader, Sue Andrews, said: “Jumping out of a plane above cloud level meant leaping into ‘white nothingness’, so it was a totally surreal experience. It was also very cold and windy, but completely exhilarating and the overriding feeling we were left with was ‘when can we do it again’.”
Praising the work of Leonard Cheshire Disability, she added: “The charity does a great job in helping to change attitudes towards disability and we are pleased to have been able to help the local branch and hope the money we have raised will go some way to assist them in the work they carry out.”
Joining Sue were associate solicitors Annette Keevil, Petrova Caldecourt and Melanie Bataillard-Samuel, and paralegal Vanessa Macleod.
Together, they raised money through sponsorship and arranged a raffle with prizes generously donated by local businesses.
