Legal team tackles charity challenge

Six adventurous volunteers from Gerrards Cross law firm B P Collins swapped the comfort of their offices recently for a gruelling charity challenge to raise funds for the Chiltern MS Centre.

More than £1,100 was collected by the two teams, who took part in a 10km off-road run, a 25km mountain bike ride and a 1.5km kayak canoeing course during The Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge Series, held in Pirbright, Surrey.

Taking a respectable 3 hours 9 minutes to complete the course were marketing executive Steve Perry, senior associate Craig Williams and colleague Dan Johnson, from accounts.

Meanwhile, the second team, comprising trainee solicitors Helen Usborne and Lizzie Kirk, plus para-legal Toby Matthews, finished in 4 hours 16 minutes.

Keen runner Toby Matthews, who encouraged his colleagues to take part and nominated the charity, said: "It was an exhausting and challenging day but it was great fun to do and fantastic to know that we were raising funds for a very worthwhile local organisation which does invaluable work for many people suffering with multiple sclerosis."

The Chilterns MS Centre provided T-shirts for team members and money raised may go towards a £500,000 target which the charity aims to raise to help fully equip its new purpose-built centre, which is due to be ready in Autumn 2010.
