Steve runs to a marathon success story

Many congratulations to Steve Perry, marketing executive at B P Collins, who ran his first London Marathon in a time of 3 hours 47 minutes, raising more than £1,500 for The National Society for Epilepsy (NSE).

Steve's months of hard training paid off as he crossed the April 25 finishing line in 7,675th place – well inside his four hour target. He was one of a team of 39 runners, including comedian Russell Howard, who pushed themselves to the limit to complete the 26.2 mile course for the charity.

"It was a truly amazing day, but a tough physical challenge too," he said. "I was delighted to go under my target time and it was tremendous to have raised so much money for such a worthwhile cause."

Angie King, press officer for the NSE, said: "We'd like to congratulate Steve and to thank the many local people who supported him through sponsorship. Together Steve and his fellow runners reached a grand total in excess of £50,000, which was an amazing achievement."

The Chalfont St Peter-based charity is a long-standing client of B P Collins and Steve was inspired to lend his support after the firm held a charity art exhibition last year featuring many paintings created by artists who have personal experiences of epilepsy.

"Our art exhibition was a real eye opener into how tough living with epilepsy is and that really motivated me to keep training hard and succeed in my goal," added Steve.
