PRESS RELEASE

Six lawyers at Gerrards Cross law firm B P Collins have been singled out for personal recognition in the latest volume of the prestigious Chambers UK, a client's guide to the legal profession.

The 2009 guide ranks solicitors and barristers in over 60 specialist areas of law across the UK and B P Collins achieved major success across the Thames Valley sector.

For the first time, partner Nick Hallchurch has been named as a leading individual in two fields, Property Litigation and Dispute Resolution, while fellow partner and head of the firm’s Family practice team Sue Andrews, was praised as a leading individual for her expertise.

Employment specialist and partner Jo Davis, who heads the Employment team, was named as an “up and coming” lawyer and an “increasingly impressive” advocate, due in no small part to her work on a high-profile age discrimination case (Seldon v Clarkson Wright and Jakes) which hit the headlines earlier this year.

The three join colleagues Tim Constable (Litigation), David Wilkinson (Private Client) and Michael Larcombe (Commercial Property), who retained their rankings as leading individuals.

Karl Wingfield, Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are all delighted that these six partners have all been acknowledged by Chambers for their expertise, but even more pleasing is the fact that the practice as a whole received some tremendous plaudits and feedback from our clients. The year ahead promises to be a very exciting one for the firm and we are already working hard to increase our rankings still further over the next 12 months.”

Overall, B P Collins achieved significant success, with its private client practice maintaining its top Band One ranking and receiving the ultimate accolade from Chambers UK, which said: “This firm continues to set the gold standard for private client work in the Thames Valley.”

In addition, the practice’s Property Litigation team entered the rankings for the first time in Band Two and its ranking for the Real Estate team went up one level.

Also receiving special praise was its charity team which holds on to its Band Two ranking, with one client commenting: “We are always guaranteed the attention of one of the senior partners, so we never feel as if we are being palmed off. Plus the more junior staff are equally superb and we are happy to put our trust in them as well.”

The success in Chambers UK 2009 guide follows closely on from the publication of the Legal 500, which also saw the firm ranked number one for its Private Client business.
