Garden open day to help funds bloom for local charity
Garden lovers will be spoilt for choice on Saturday 9 August, with a rare opportunity to visit the private gardens of Bledlow Manor, home to former Foreign Secretary Lord Carrington, and raise money for charity at the same time.
B P Collins LLP is proud to be the main sponsor of the event, which is being held to raise funds for Age UK Buckinghamshire.
Marketing manager Samantha Howe, said: “This is a special chance to spend an afternoon in a really picturesque and delightful garden and we’re sure many of our clients and friends will be keen to visit on what we hope will be a beautiful summer’s day.
“We are delighted to be supporting Age UK Bucks with this event, which we hope will raise plenty of money for such a worthwhile cause.”
Giulia Johnson, the charity’s chief executive, said: "This is one of our fundraising events this year and we are grateful to Lord Carrington for allowing us access to his garden and to B P Collins for once again supporting us by generously sponsoring the event. The money raised will go towards our Befriending Service to help reduce loneliness in older people throughout Buckinghamshire."
Situated in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside at the foot of the Chilterns, Bledlow Manor is about three miles from Princes Risborough. The Carringtons took over the house on the family estate in the 1940s and set about restoring it, as well as redesigning the gardens with the help of landscape architect Robert Adams.
Now encompassing around 10 acres, they stretch from a beautiful walled garden with an herbaceous border and gazebo, through to a croquet lawn surrounded by mixed borders, a water garden and parterre, a sculpture garden and the new Snail Garden, designed in memory of Lady Carrington.
Lavender beds, borders of delphiniums and paeonies, viburnums, santolina and festuca glauca are just some of the plants which will be showing off their summer colours and foliage.
Afternoon teas will be available, plus a tombola with fine food and wine prizes to be won.
Where: The Manor House, Church End, Bledlow HP27 9PB.
When: Saturday 9 August, open 2.00 - 5.00 pm
Entry Cost: £5 payable on the gate (under 12s free)
