Legal bible ‘Chambers UK’ announces its 2017 results
Chambers UK announces band one rankings for several practices and lawyers at B P Collins LLP
‘Dedicated to delivering the best legal advice through solving problems, managing risk and adding value’- the legal team at B P Collins has maintained its top flight rankings in the latest 2017 edition of Chambers UK. The guide ranks solicitors and barristers over a range of specialist areas of law and is recognised as the most widely-used directory within the legal sector.
B P Collins’ employment team is boosted this year with Chris Brazier – B P Collins’ business immigration specialist being regarded as an ‘associate to watch’ alongside fellow senior associate in employment, Kathryn Fielder. Jo Davis, partner and practice group leader maintains her number one ranking as an individual with one client saying that she is:
‘extremely diligent, hardworking and committed.’
Led by partner Simon Deans, the corporate/MA team retained their band one ranking out of 14 firms in the Thames Valley area, and partner David Smellie also achieved a leading individual, band one ranking once again. Aside from being regarded for his practice in complex transactions across a diverse range of industry sectors, one client also said that David:
“has in-depth knowledge and knows everything about corporate law - he's never been flummoxed."
B P Collins’ Environment team is also acknowledged by Chambers UK again this year with a band one rating, as the team continues to go from strength to strength in this sector with clients including Biffa, Summerleaze Group, McGee Group, Ice Energy Technologies, FoundOcean, i2O Water.
There were also special plaudits for Sue Andrews, partner and leader of the family team, who has maintained her band one status as a leading individual. Practising primarily in ‘complicated financial remedy matters’, she also has expertise in preparing pre-nuptial agreements. One client commented:

Another band one ranking for the Environment team, Chambers UK said this is a “highly capable practice with the ability to handle contentious and non-contentious issues,” which regularly advises on waste and recycling matters, as well as the environmental aspects of renewable energy transactions. Jo Davis, partner in the employment practice is considered a band one individual, regarded for her work in TUPE matters, post termination restrictions and senior executive exits. Her clients said that she is ‘extremely diligent, hard-working and committed.”
She is supported by Chris Brazier and Kathryn Fielder – ‘associates to watch’ according to Chambers UK and the rest of her team which work cross a range of sectors, including aviation, pharmaceuticals and construction. Areas of expertise include whistle-blowing, discrimination, corporate support and business immigration.
Litigation (Thames Valley)
With experience in defamation, professional negligence and IP related issues, Chambers UK says that the team “continues to impress with broad litigation and mediation capabilities, regularly handling high-value contract disputes and corporate litigation as well as regulatory matters.”
Leading individuals Matthew Brandis who heads up the practice is ‘commercial and driven’ and Craig Williams ‘received strong feedback for his excellent strategic and communication skills.’ Meanwhile Nick Hallchurch is a ‘commercially aware and pragmatic practitioner’ and also considered a leading individual by Chambers while maintaining his ranking as a mediator.

Sarah McLoughlin is regarded as a notable practitioner who leads an ‘esteemed’ team with substantial experience advising on leasehold enfranchisements, dilapidations and planning obligations. One client added:
