New professional forum launched for in-house lawyers
In-Form, a new professional forum for in-house lawyers throughout the Thames Valley was launched by B P Collins LLP in the prestigious surroundings of Cliveden House Hotel on Thursday 14 May.
Designed to provide an opportunity for in-house counsel to share ideas, experiences, training and knowledge, the event was co-hosted by corporate partner Simon Deans.
Speaking shortly afterwards, he said: “We were delighted with the response and positive feedback from today’s launch.
“Our corporate teams support a wide range of in-house lawyers and their businesses across the Thames Valley. The idea for the forum was born after many of our clients told us they would welcome the chance to have more contact with their peers. They want to learn from other peoples’ perspectives on the implications of legal developments, to understand the approaches others take to meeting the needs of clients within their businesses and managing external legal providers.
“Given the high concentration of successful businesses in this region, both multi-nationals with large legal teams and smaller organisations where there may be only one in-house lawyer, we felt we were well placed to facilitate such an opportunity. Indeed, demand for places at the forum was so high that the event was oversubscribed, underlining the gap that we have identified in this very important sector.”
With twice-yearly membership lunches, In-Form now has its own dedicated LinkedIn group, allowing members to share insight and ideas, questions and contacts on an ongoing basis.
In addition, says Simon, B P Collins will host a series of briefings and workshops on a range of relevant topics throughout the year, based on feedback and requests from members. These will include sector-focused events, and the legal teams from B P Collins' corporate, employment, real estate and litigation practice groups will also be on hand to provide internal training sessions to in-house legal departments and other managers as required.
Among those attending was Sally Unwin of InHealth Group, who commented: “It was very good to meet some of the B P Collins team and some of my counterparts in the Thames Valley. I have no doubt that once it gets going the in-house forum will be very lively.” Fellow attendee Edward Rees of Norgine said it had been “great to meet some new faces” and he was looking forward to connecting with more people via the LinkedIn group.
