Experience

Rajiv’s experience covers a wide range of pre-action, County Court and High Court litigation involving consumer protection issues, shareholder and director disputes, consumer and commercial debt recovery and contract disputes, including litigation arising out of hire purchase agreements. Rajiv acts for property owners, builders and insurers in several construction disputes concerning anything from poor workmanship in home renovations to defects with larger housing developments that result in widespread remedial works.

Rajiv has advised regional and city-based clients across industries including logistics, waste management, construction, manufacturing and media.

Rajiv’s recent experience includes:

  • Acted for a US-based manufacturer of consumer cannabidiol products as to the formation and interpretation of a distribution agreement. Client faced proceedings of a substantive value by a UK distributor. Guided the client towards a successful settlement.
  • Acted for a UK-based smartphone app-developer in respect of a claim intimated by a German software engineer that asserted ownership of code used by the app. Included advice on governing law and jurisdiction. Successfully avoided the commencement of proceedings in Germany and reached settlement of the dispute.
  • Acted for an international motorcycle manufacturer in its summary judgment application following a retailer’s breach of its dealer agreement. Obtained judgment and an order awarding the majority of its legal costs.

Key achievements

Rajiv was part of the B P Collins’ team which advised a well-known waste management business in successfully defending a £3million claim during a High Court trial. This led to a reported decision that set legal precedent in respect of accepting a Part 36 settlement offer during trial.

Rajiv’s opinion pieces have been published in Business Voice, a magazine by the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce and he has commented on litigation issues in national titles and he regularly contributes to articles for B P Collins’ knowledge hub.

Outside the office

A keen badminton player, Rajiv also dabbles in yoga and has recently taken up spinning. Rajiv enjoys an eclectic taste in both cinema and music and always makes time for watching sport. He enjoys travelling, and a particular highlight was climbing Mount Fuji in Japan.
