Jeannie catches first prize

Jeannie Berridge, a second year photography student at Amersham & Wycombe college, captured top honours in a photography exhibition organised by leading Thames Valley law firm B P Collins.

The practice, which is based in Gerrards Cross, recently celebrated the official launch of its Trust Corporation status and to mark the event it commissioned photography students at the college to produce a series of pictures that convey the word 'trust'.

The images were displayed at a special launch party held at the law firm's Chalfont Suite and guests invited to vote for the image they believed best met the brief.

Jeannie's prize-winning image was entitled 'Catch' and showed the trust between a father and his daughter as he threw her up in the air. The runner-up was first year student Sarah Loughlin, whose portrait of her father was called 'Reveal the truth'.

On Monday (November 3) both students were awarded their cash prizes by B P Collins' senior partner Ian Johnson, in a short ceremony attended all the photography students who took part.

Minna Kantonen, course leader of FdA and BA Photography & Digital Imaging at Amersham & Wycombe College, said: “We were pleased and excited to work with B P Collins on this project. Each of the students on both the Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) Photography & Digital Imaging courses were asked to submit a photograph for the exhibition.

“Working to a live brief is always challenging and stimulating and it resulted in some interesting interpretations on the theme of trust. We sincerely hope that Amersham & Wycombe College can continue its collaboration with B P Collins in the future.”

Ian Johnson added: “We’re always keen to develop new opportunities to work with the local community and felt the theme of the photographic exhibition was a novel and thought-provoking way to demonstrate the message that we wanted to get across to our clients.

“The standard of photography was excellent and the images proved a real talking point for our guests. Jeannie’s picture, capturing the love and trust between a father and daughter was especially poignant and a very popular choice as the winner.”

Achieving Trust Corporation status has enabled the practice to increase flexibility and improve its services for private clients and means that instead of naming an individual lawyer as a trustee or executor, the new B P Collins Trust Corporation will now be appointed to act on behalf of a client.
