Employment team triumph in long awaited verdict
Kathryn Fielder, senior associate in the B P Collins LLP employment practice group, has acted for a medical practitioner since 2007, initially defending an unfair dismissal case following her client's termination of employment from a London hospital which resulted in an out of court settlement.
However, due to the nature of the unfair dismissal case, her client later became a person of interest to the professional panel who debated whether our client was fit to practice following her dismissal.
Our client was required to attend interim hearings before the panel every quarter, until she was finally granted a full hearing in 2012. Although Kathryn proved that her client was no danger to patients and was now maintaining a position as a general nurse on a more administrational side, the panel decided that the client needed to be monitored for at least another year.
After receiving a new hearing date, Kathryn and associate, Hannah King, constructed a defence that enabled our client to be discharged of all her conditions of practice.
