B P Collins runners up in ‘Active Workplace of the Year’ award
On Friday 6 December, the Bucks and MK Sport Awards highlighted and recognised individuals and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to sport in the county, in essence the people who make sport happen.
After the success of the London 2012 Olympics, there was bound to be questions asked about the delivery of a sporting legacy locally, or if Bucks residents would just have memories of that spectacular summer. Friday’s awards ceremony proved beyond doubt that there has been an incredible amount of work taking place to ensure there is an on-going local legacy from the Games.
For the second year running, B P Collins was selected for the award and faced fierce competition from Bucks-based nominees Softcat and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). As previous winners in the Active Workplace of the Year category, B P Collins narrowly missed out again as PWC were awarded the honour for their commitment to sport at work.
Steve Perry, senior marketing executive at B P Collins, commented: "We are delighted with the recognition these awards provide as we continue to uphold our status as a recognisably active workplace. We work tirelessly to provide our staff with opportunities to keep healthy, as we value the intrinsic rewards of increased morale and teamwork."
The night was also a success for the Bucks Sporting Lunch Club (for which B P Collins is a founding sponsor) which, for the second year running, supported the awards evening by sponsoring the 'Club of the Year'. The judges were looking for sports clubs which have developed an environment where athletes and volunteers can enjoy and succeed in their sport.
This year's highly contested award was won by Chalfont Softball Club, which has been running since 2004 and plays in the Windsor and Maidenhead District Mixed Softball League.
The next Bucks Sporting Lunch Club is scheduled for Friday 28 March at Dorney Lake. For further information please contact Steve Perry on firstname.lastname@example.org, call 01753 279006 or visit www.buckssportinglunchclub.co.uk.
