It’s Family Mediation Week (18 – 22 January 2021)
This week is about raising awareness of mediation and how it can help families manage and resolve issues that arise on separation in a productive and amicable way.
This campaign has been organised by the Family Mediation Council (FMC): Home - Family Mediation Council
The aim of this week is to raise awareness of the advantages of mediation as an option to separating couples. It is a choice which may be overlooked by couples as a viable option due to the prominence of court-based divorce and finance proceedings in the media.
Mediation is a form of dispute resolution that encourages separating couples to work towards solutions in relation to issues arising on the breakdown of their relationship with the help of an independent qualified Mediator. This can be issues in relation to divorce, finances, parenting arrangements, housing; or all of the above.
The aim is for couples to reach an agreement that suits all those involved, and which can avoid the legal-costs and stress of court-proceedings.
Your relationship may have broken down; but mediation may assist you to build it up into something different, something new, that better suits your family, while maintaining those important family-relationships.
B P Collins can also assist you alongside the mediation process, whether that is advising on likely outcomes and settlement proposals, or assisting with drafting/formalising an agreement reached.
It is important to remember that no two relationships or family situations are the same; therefore it is important to consider the different options available. If you would like to understand your options and to consider which may be right for you, please do not hesitate to get in touch with one our specialist Family Lawyers who can advise you in more detail.
