Tax-free childcare roll out continues
Employers and families are reminded that from February 14, 2018 the Government's tax-free childcare scheme opens to parents with children under the age of 12.
Up until now, the tax-free childcare has already been available to parents whose youngest child is under nine-years-old.
All eligible parents will be able to apply for tax-free childcare before the end of this financial year.
The service was made available by HM Revenue and Customs in April last year, and enables working parents up to 30 hours free childcare and tax-free childcare.
This equates to £2,000 of support per child per year, or up to £4,000 for disabled children.
Self-employed parents may also benefit from the tax-free childcare services.
Applications, as well as the Government's childcare calculator, can be found at Childcare Choices . Here, parents can also decipher which choice is best for them.
The childcare service has had more than 325,000 successful applications since it began, and more than 170,000 of these have been helped with a tax-free childcare account.
In 2019/20, the Government intends to spend around £6 billion on childcare support - a record amount - and are dedicated to helping working parents with the financial difficulties of childcare.
