The Government has announced that the new Graduate route will open for applications on the 1 July 2021, in a bid to retain the best international students from around the world. The Graduate route has been put in place to ensure the UK is seen as a key place to study and build your future career.

The Graduate route will allow international students to remain in the UK to seek employment or work for a maximum period of two years (three for doctoral students) upon completing their studies.

Who can apply?

International students that have successfully completed a degree or other authorised qualifications at undergraduate level or above from a Higher Education Provider with a track level of compliance, who also have a valid Tier 4 permission at the time of application.

Graduates will not need a job offer to be eligible and there will be no minimum salary requirements or any further caps. Flexible working is permitted and the graduates will be able to develop their careers as they wish to.

Settlement

The Graduate route will not lead to settlement, but those on the route will be able to move into another work-based route, such as the Skilled Worker route. If the student is successful in obtaining sponsorship as a Skilled Worker, then that could lead to settlement.

For any further information or advice on the Graduate route please get in touch with our business immigration team on 01753 889995 or email enquiries@bpcollins.co.uk.
