Environment and Climate

B P Collins is committed towards protecting the environment for future generations. We have established an Environmental Committee to inform, monitor, recommend and implement changes in behaviour and working practices in order to minimise our impact on the environment.

We have identified our most significant environmental impact as the use of resources and production of waste in our offices. We are committed to managing and minimising our impacts and are currently liaising with the Carbon Neutral Society to explore further ways of reducing our emissions at the source.

Environment Policy Statement

Our objectives:

  • Complying with relevant legislation and regulations in relation to the environment, as it affects our industry
  • Minimising energy consumption in our offices
  • Minimising waste through the mantra “reduce, reuse, recycle”
  • Minimising the use of transport by encouraging video-conferencing rather than face-to-face meetings
  • Car-pooling and a cycle to work scheme
  • Informing and educating our staff on environmentally-friendly working practices
  • Sourcing fair trade food and drink where possible

An office move at the beginning of 2020 allowed us to further accelerate our environmentally friendly practices in the following ways:

  • Reduce our building footplate
  • Choose a fully green energy supplier
  • Reduce our consumption of all water, heat and electricity
  • Introduce plants for air quality and mental wellbeing
  • Reduce the number of appliances used
  • Embrace paperlite and reduce printing.
  • New printers use 88% less energy and have fully recyclable cartridges
  • Reduce IT servers by moving data to the Cloud
  • Use of laptops instead of PCs providing energy saving
  • Increased flexible working with more time working from home to reduce our travel footprint

People and Diversity

B P Collins is committed to promoting a fair working environment in which all are treated equally regardless of colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion or belief, marital status, disability or age.

B P Collins is committed to TVCC’s Mental Wellbeing Charter. This Charter is a pledge of our commitment to build a positive mental wellbeing culture, which in turn tackles stigma and builds trust, ensuring that the right help is available to anyone seeking mental health support, wherever they are and whenever they need it.

Charitable giving and fundraising

B P Collins LLP has partnered with Buckinghamshire’s Community Foundation Heart of Bucks (HoB) to help manage its charitable activities since 2015.

HoB’s vision is to bring positive changes locally and to see communities thriving and challenging disadvantage across the county. Its mission is to encourage local giving and philanthropy by informing, inspiring and involving its donors and supporters to make a lasting difference.  As the leading independent grant-maker in Buckinghamshire, the range of needs addressed by HoB funding is incomparable.

One Eighty, which is an innovative, and outcomes-driven therapeutic service, that empowers young people and their families to improve their mental health and engage them with education.

Art Beyond Belief, which improves the quality of life for sick, disadvantaged, vulnerable or marginalised people through the arts.

Wycombe multi-cultural organisation, which fosters strong community cohesion within the High Wycombe area by working with local people and groups in using the Hilltop Community Centre to promote educational, health, social inclusion and wellbeing activities for residents.

TVP New Leaf, which is a criminal justice charity that provides support and guidance for vulnerable people.

Simon Deans, B P Collins’ senior partner said:

“The stewardship with Heart of Bucks has funded many causes which don’t always grab the headlines but make such a vital and – at times – life-saving contribution to the local community. Our law firm is passionate about helping those in need in Bucks and providing an annual grant via Heart of Bucks is a tangible way of doing that.”

Henry Allmand, Chief Executive Officer, Heart of Bucks, added:

“It’s a pleasure to be working closely with our long-term partners B P Collins to deliver its charitable funding programme, which has grown this year in response to the Covid pandemic.  Businesses like B P Collins make an incredible difference to their local community, and now that support is needed more than ever.”

Our partnership with Heart of Bucks has enabled us to contribute £60,000 to support local charities.

National fundraising

In addition to our stewardship fund, we continue to support a limited number of national fundraising and activity-based events, such as Red Nose Day, Children in Need and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Sponsorship programme

The firm sponsors a limited number of events in and around Buckinghamshire each year, helping to strengthen and build relationships within the community.

We are a founder-sponsor of the Bucks Sporting Lunch Club, the business network raising money for SportsAid (the national charity for sport), which provides financial support for local aspiring Olympians and Paralympians in their chosen sport.

The firm is also proud to support local schools including Beaconsfield High School through donations and sponsorship of events.
