The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has announced that the gender pay gap enforcement will be delayed for a further six months. This is due to the effects of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The delay means that organisations have another six months to report their information for 2020/21 before any legal action can be taken. Enforcement for any organisations that fail to report will commence from the 5 October 2021. Employers that fail to report on time or give inaccurate data could be in breach of regulations and face fines or court orders.

Chair of the Commission, Baroness Kishwer Falkner, said: “We know businesses are still facing challenging times. Starting our legal process in October strikes the right balance between supporting businesses and enforcing these important regulations.”
