Good Divorce Week is an initiative to raise awareness of ways to reduce conflict in family separation. Good Divorce Week is organised by Resolution a community of more than 6,500 family law professionals of which the Family solicitors here at B P Collins are members. Resolution members commit to a code of practice which promotes a constructive and non-confrontational approach to family matters that considers the needs of the whole family and keeps the best interests of any children involved at the forefront of proceedings. Commitment to the code means we believe the process of separation resolving finances and making arrangements for children can be done in a way that reduces conflict and promotes constructive and amicable agreements.Â
Dealing with divorce and separation can be a very difficult time. Emotions run high and even if the couple are both in agreement about the need to separate, the life changes involved can be so distressing that conflict and confrontation can seem inevitable. That does not always have to be the case. It is always a good idea to seek early specialist advice which can help prevent unnecessary and damaging conflict as a result of divorce or separation, particularly where children are involved. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to divorce as every family and relationship is different. However professional advice obtained early on can help people think through their options and decide which process or processes would be best suited to them.Â
Family lawyers can help explain all the options open to separating couples including alternatives to court where they are appropriate such as mediation and arbitration. This will give separating couples the confidence and knowledge to make the best decisions for them and their family.Â
We have a highly experienced team on hand to advise on all aspects of divorce and separation. Please call us on 01753 889995 or email enquiries@bpcollins.co.uk.
