B P Collins supports five local causes across Buckinghamshire in 2020 and 2021.

B P Collins is supporting multiple local causes in Buckinghamshire through its stewardship fund, established in conjunction with Heart of Bucks, a county wide community foundation. This year the five organisations chosen not only best reflect B P Collins’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) values, which are building stronger communities, providing better futures and creating safer lives, but they have either struggled due to the Coronavirus or have focused on helping local Bucks communities with issues caused by the pandemic.

The winning organisations were:

  1. Dash Charity, which provides a range of specialist and tailored support services to families experiencing domestic abuse in Windsor, Maidenhead and South Buckinghamshire.
  2. One Eighty, which is an innovative, and outcomes-driven therapeutic service, that empowers young people and their families to improve their mental health and engage them with education.
  3. Art Beyond Belief, which improves the quality of life for sick, disadvantaged, vulnerable or marginalised people through the arts.
  4. Wycombe multi-cultural organisation, which fosters strong community cohesion within the High Wycombe area by working with local people and groups in using the Hilltop Community Centre to promote educational, health, social inclusion and wellbeing activities for residents.
  5. TVP New Leaf, which is a criminal justice charity that provides support and guidance for vulnerable people.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions prohibiting large gatherings, the chosen five charities and organisations submitted their applications online and proposed how their donation from B P Collins would be spent. Staff from the law firm then voted on which causes to support with the fund worth almost £13,000.

Simon Deans, senior partner, B P Collins said: “I’m delighted that the whole B P Collins’ team have been so involved with our work in the community this year, from volunteering their time to local charities to ‘virtually’ turning out in force to vote for causes that mean the most to them. We look forward to hearing how our donations will make a difference.”

Henry Allmand, Chief Executive of Heart of Bucks added:

“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to again work with B P Collins in 2020.  A larger distribution of grants is particularly important this year with the impact and disruption caused to local charities by the pandemic. Businesses like B P Collins make a huge difference to their local community and we are incredibly grateful for the continued support, interest and enthusiasm of their whole staff team.”

Dash Charity also commented:

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on our charity, both in terms of our ability to fundraise and upon the clients we support. There has been a significant rise in incidents in domestic abuse across the area and we have seen referrals to our service double over the past period. We’re so grateful for the support of B P Collins during this challenging time and the grant will help us to continue to provide specialist one to one support to victims of domestic abuse within our community at a time they need it the most.”

Now in its sixth year, the B P Collins’ stewardship fund has donated over £62,000 to Buckinghamshire charities creating a lasting legacy.

Further information about the B P Collins’ fund

The B P Collins stewardship fund, committed to supporting and strengthening local communities, allows for a fairer, more structured and measurable way for the firm to support and achieve its charitable objectives. Through this partnership, B P Collins will gain first-hand understanding of local need through the great variety of applications for funding received and considered by HoB.

Benefiting from the fund are local community groups in Buckinghamshire, within the geographical area of Aylesbury and the southern half of the county wherever HoB's grants panel think the need is greatest. Our staff involvement is enhanced by allowing them to vote in the decision making of awards throughout the year. Our employees are also given the opportunity to learn, participate and see for themselves just how far the grants can go towards improving the lives of others.

With a core set of values attributed to the distribution of the fund, this partnership shares a commitment to providing financial support to vital projects across the county, and ensures the firm engages positively and proactively with local charities.
