James joined B P Collins’ Family Law team as an associate in February 2023.
Experience
James is broadly experienced in family law, advising on divorce, the separation of finances, and children matters. As a member of the family lawyers’ group, Resolution, he is genuinely committed to resolving matters in a constructive and non-confrontational way wherever possible.
Specialisms
While he likes the variety of work in family law and prefers to keep a varied caseload, James has developed particular expertise in complex children cases, including those involving child protection issues and local authority involvement, injunctive proceedings and allegations of domestic abuse. In 2022 he acted successfully for the mother in a reported case (essentially a rare case deemed sufficiently legally interesting to be reported in legal journals) dealing with a variety of allegations made by the father and mother against each other.
Outside the Office
James grew up playing a lot of sports and still enjoys following football and golf in particular. He plays golf regularly as a member of a club in Berkshire. His other main interest is literature, and in a previous life he enjoyed performing in some amateur dramatics productions.
