Recognised as one of the leading independent legal directories in the world, the Chambers High Net Worth (HNW) Guide has ranked B P Collins’ private wealth disputes team, led by partner Matthew Brandis, in Band 1.

Great news also for the high value residential team as it increases its ranking, while the private wealth law practice maintains its high ranking.

Looking to individuals in the firm, private wealth partner, Lucy Wood and private wealth senior associate, Dominic Ibbs both retain their high rankings as do private wealth dispute partners, Matthew Brandis and Craig Williams. Meanwhile, high value residential property partner, Martina Razaq moves up the rankings.

Private wealth practice

A source for the Chambers HNW Guide notes that the private wealth law team: “… is very knowledgeable and able to give clear and direct answers in a language that the client is able to understand.” Another interviewee notes: “It’s a very experienced team able to look at the whole problem and come up with solutions.”

It reports that clients are particularly impressed with Matthew Brandis, B P Collins’ private wealth disputes partner, with one saying: “He is really good at providing a litigator’s advice in a practical and commercially oriented way.” Another source notes: “Matthew is user-friendly, responsive, and a tough litigator.”

The guide also says that the “outstanding” Craig Williams, private wealth disputes partner, represents clients in complex, high-value contentious trust and estate matters. An impressed client explains: “Craig has been superb and guided me through a very stressful ordeal. He always responds to my communications and quickly understands situations. I cannot fault him.” This source adds: “He is very wise.”

Meanwhile it says the “excellent” Lucy Wood, private wealth law partner, advises clients on wills and lasting powers of attorney as well as trust matters and estate administration. A market source says: “Lucy leads the team with professionalism and a high degree of client care.” Another interviewee notes that Wood is “always incredibly professional.”

Dominic Ibbs, a private wealth law senior associate who advises on trusts and estate administration, is reported by the guide to have, “an excellent manner with clients and good technical knowledge.” Another interviewee explains: “He has a sharp legal mind but also has the ability to explain to clients in clear English what can often be complex matters.”

High value residential property team

The Chambers HNW Guide adds that B P Collins’ high value residential property team is respected for its handling of significant property matters. “They have been the most responsive, quickest and most knowledgeable solicitors I have used, they have been consistent with the service they provide on each case,” says an interviewee.

The team acts for clients on high-value residential property transactions and is commended for the quality of its client service. A source says: “They are extremely responsive via email and telephone and they fully delivered on all timing commitments.”

A market commentator says that Martina Razaq, who regularly advises clients on high-value transactions in Buckinghamshire and London, “…is highly recommended.
