Acting for a client in relation to an allegation of possession of an offensive weapon. The client, a lawyer who worked at “Magic Circle”, had inadvertently taken a knife he had been using at home in his pocket and onto the street. He was subsequently stopped, arrested and charged.
As a young man with a family working in the UK, a conviction could have had profound consequences were he to be convicted. B P Collins ensured we assessed the issue and were able to ably address the court on the issues. The judge at the Crown Court sought to remove the defence from the jury. However, Counsel, Rajiv Menon KC, put forward good and reasoned arguments, the client gave good evidence and was unanimously acquitted within 20 minutes.
