An existing client of the firm recommended Matthew Brandis, partner and practice group leader in the dispute resolution practice group to assist one of their business contacts in seeking payment of a commercial debt.
Although the company owed the money (our new client) and the debtor had dealt with each other in the past, there was no contractual documentation setting out how much our client was entitled to claim from the debtor for the most recent transaction.
However, Matthew put together a claim based on the previous course of dealing and the debtor settled the matter within a few days of being approached for payment, to the full satisfaction of our client. Our client was particularly impressed with the speed with which we contacted the debtor, and the fact that Matthew took time out of his holiday to settle it.
