Steven is a partner in the dispute resolution group at B P Collins. He joined the team in 2020.
An experienced commercial litigator, Steven specialises in all types of commercial litigation and dispute resolution focusing on construction disputes, contractual disputes, claims arising under guarantees and indemnities, shareholder and director disputes and consumer claims (often in a construction context).
Steven provides clear, straightforward and commercially focused advice to identify cost effective solutions to deliver his clients’ objectives.
Steven has broad experience in commercial, construction, regulatory and financial/banking disputes, having previously worked at a large international law firm and in-house at a leading City regulator, where he was part of a team conducting high profile cross-agency investigations. He now acts for a range of clients from individuals and owner-run businesses to large national and international companies.
Steven advises on the full range of construction-related disputes, including claims arising out of defective works (including for insurer clients), interim and final payments and claims for variations, extensions of time and loss and expense. Steven has experience in adjudication as a form of dispute resolution, acting for both referring and responding parties. He also advises and acts for clients in disputes arising out of the sale of goods and supply of services, share purchase agreements, corporate disputes and claims under indemnities and guarantees.
Previously, Steven has advised clearing banks, lenders and payment service providers dealing with contractual disputes, complex issues surrounding the enforcement of legal charges, as well as mis-selling and breach of contract claims brought under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
Steven acts for claimants and defendants in all stages of litigation in the High Court (including the specialist divisions) and County Court. He has considerable experience in other forms of dispute resolution, including mediation, negotiation, adjudication and arbitration.
Steven read Politics at the University of Bristol. He went on to study Law at the College of Law, London, where he obtained a First Class law degree.
He regularly contributes articles for B P Collins’ knowledge hub with an emphasis on legal updates and developments in the construction industry.
Outside the office
In his spare time, Steven enjoys shooting and is also a keen skier and musician.
