The Dispute Resolution team advised a client in relation to her claims against her late husband’s estate, having been excluded from his will after 30 years of marriage.
The couple’s children had also been excluded in favour of a number of charities.
Partner, Craig Williams, helped his client to issue a claim on the basis that her husband’s will failed to make reasonable financial provision for her and was contrary to a number of promises he had made to her in his lifetime, on which she had relied.
The case was complicated by the number of parties potentially interested in the litigation and overseas assets. Our client achieved an early settlement and is enjoying a greater degree of financial certainty as a result.
