Having joined B P Collins LLP in March 2013 from a large City firm, Claire Filer is a reliable and dependable solicitor with a vast amount of knowledge and experience in family and private client issues.

Claire uses her extensive experience to advise clients across a range of family matters which include relationship breakdown involving divorce, the dissolution of civil partnerships and child-centred disputes revolving around contact and residence applications, as well as relocation overseas.  Claire also advises on both pre and post nuptial agreements.

Having had experience of private client work at the beginning of her career, she has also completed the STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Diploma to complement her family work and advises in complex and high-net worth financial disputes, specialising in cases involving trusts.

As an active member of the family solicitor group Resolution, Claire and has written articles for its member magazine and The Lawyer as well as local Buckinghamshire publications.

Claire was promoted to senior associate in November 2014 and made partner in May 2017.

Outside of work Claire is kept busy running after her young family and is a governor at her boys’ school..

Previous experience

Having trained and qualified at an international law firm, Claire worked in the City before joining B P Collins in March 2013.


Claire qualified as a solicitor in 2004, having graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in History and completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, in which she achieved a distinction.
