The Dispute Resolution team has acted for an entrepreneur who was pursued for an alleged debt of close to £2m, through the insolvency courts.
The debt arose out of a corporate investment with complicated international elements. Importantly, the debt was disputed and the threat of bankruptcy was an abuse of process.
On behalf of the entrepreneur, Craig Williams (partner) successfully applied to set aside the statutory demand, which removed the threat of bankruptcy.
